Freddy Morales, born in 2002, is a Hispanic and Native American percussionist and educator from El Paso, Texas. He is currently pursuing a master’s degree in Percussion Performance at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Freddy serves as a Graduate Teaching Assistant for the UTK Band, working with The Pride of the Southland Band/Drumline and various concert ensembles. He focuses on creating positive learning environments and promoting cultural diversity within musical groups.

Freddy graduated with a degree in Music Education from The University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP), where he studied under Dr. Andy Smith. At UTEP, he performed with the Wind Ensemble, Symphonic Orchestra, Steel Pan, Samba Bateria, Jazz Ensemble, and several Percussion Ensembles. He was the center snare for the UTEP Marching Miners and served as an Undergraduate Teaching Assistant. His performance highlights include TMEA appearances with the UTEP Percussion Ensemble and Jazz I Ensemble, as well as touring West Texas with the UTEP Wind Symphony. He actively played with the El Paso Wind Symphony and participated as a guest artist at the Music Mexico Symposium in Houston, Texas, in 2023.

Freddy has experience in the marching arts, performing with ‘Sun City Independent’ and ‘Genesis,’ where he held leadership roles. He has performed at the El Paso Jazz Festival with the ‘Borderland Brass Band.’ Currently, he teaches the ‘Pride of the Southland’ Drumline and is on staff with Genesis and Arsenal DBC. In his personal time, he enjoys hiking and connecting with nature. Freddy actively shares his work and insights on various social media platforms.
